From the Principal
March is here, and along with it the change to Spring. As the weather becomes more pleasant and the days get longer, it feels good to get outside. This is the time of year when we really start planning for the rest of the year. We prepare our taxes, plan work in our yards, and think of upcoming Summer vacations.
This is also the time of year to plan next year’s academic schedule for our children. In keeping with this, re-enrollment forms have been mailed to all currently enrolled families. If you have not received these forms, please see me as soon as possible and I will get these to you. We are also enrolling for summer school and these forms may be picked up in Room 1 or in the front office.
Sign In/ Sign Out
Please remember to sign your student in and out each day.
If your child requires medication to be given during the school day, a medication authorization form must be filled out and given to the classroom teacher.
Although it is getting warmer, it often gets cool and windy during the day. Please be sure your child has a jacket or sweater for outside play. As the weather does warm up, parents should review the family handbook for appropriate dress for their children.
Oakland Museum Field Trip:
Friday, March 4
All students will attend this event. Upper elementary students will visit the History museum, and lower level students will see the Natural Sciences exhibit. We will leave campus at 10:00 a.m. and return at 1:00 p.m. Please send your child’s lunch in a paper or plastic bag with your child’s name. Children should wear their Montessori t-shirts on this trip.
Annual Talent Show:
Friday, March 18, Troik Hall, 1 PM
All students are invited to sign up during the month of February and participate in the talent show. Families and friends are invited to join us for this event.
Children are encouraged to pick a talent or skill they have already been working on. Practice and rehearsal should take place at home or after school.
Please encourage your child to practice and rehearse their performance.
March 28-April 1
Sign-up notices will be sent home during March. If your child will be attending, please return the form so that we may provide adequate staffing.
Friday, March 25, 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
Each classroom will have a party to celebrate the season. A sign-up sheet will be posted for treats and snacks. Parents may sign up to assist with the party in return for time toward parent participation hours.
This is an opportunity for you to observe your child in his or her classroom during the morning work period, and to see the progress your child has made since the Fall semester. Sign-up sheets will be posted on classroom doors.
Family Work Party:
Saturday, April 30, 9-3
Our annual work party is the time that we “Spring Clean” the school, paint the shelves, and do yard work. We ask all parents to join us. This year, we will be working on the playground as well as in the classrooms; raking the bark, pruning the bushes, and generally cleaning up. We hope to see everyone there - rain or shine!
